Troy Anthony’s book, “Other People’s Kids” is a humorous look at life dating a single Mom, who although is a sweet and fun girlfriend, is the mother of two spoiled deceitful teenagers who have misplaced their trust in their even more conniving father, who, coincidently is more interested in getting his wife back by any means possible, even though he apparently does not love her or want her to be truly happy.Fueled by his own concern for “appearances”, trying to look like a good father and husband, (even though kindness and parental responsibility somehow escape his mind in dealing with his family), he continuously ropes his son and daughter into scheme after scheme, to try to ruin their mother’s happiness with the new man in her life.
Enter Troy, who is not the typical boyfriend to a single Mom. He is sarcastic, often times downright devious, but cares deeply for Erica. Troy though, has no interest in being a stepfather to these kids, or in winning them over, but rather gives them a taste of their own medicine time and time again.
Not only does Troy teach Erica, to stop being her children’s slave, but teaches her how to stick up for herself and take control of her life.
“Other People’s Kids” is a great read! I could not put it down. It keeps you guessing as to what crazy thing the kids and their deadbeat Dad are going to come up with and how Troy will find a way to derail their plan, if not, get a head-start on them, totally turning the tables on this fearsome threesome, while still encouraging Erica to be the good mother she so desperately wants to be.
