THE WORLD RACES TO CLAIM A NEW CONTINENT...
A phenomenon known as crustal displacement shifts the Earth's crust, repositioning continents and causing countless deaths. In the wake of the global catastrophe, the world struggles to take care of its displaced billions. But Antarctica, freshly thawed and blooming, has emerged as a new hope. Rather than wage a world war no nation can endure, the leading nations devise a competition, a race to the center of Antarctica, with the three victors dividing the continent.
It is within this race that Mirabelle Whitney, one of the few surviving experts on the continent, grouped with an American special forces unit, finds herself. But the dangers awaiting the team are far worse than feared; beyond the sour history of a torn family, beyond the nefarious intentions of their human enemies, beyond the ancient creatures reborn through anhydrobiosis—there are the Nephilim.

THE STORY CONTINUES!
If you enjoy ANTARKTOS RISING, be sure to check out The Antarktos Saga, also by Jeremy Robinson. The first two books in this series are prequels to AR. The third book parallels AR. And the last two books finish both story lines as they merge.

Antarktos Rising eBook Jeremy Robinson
Antarktos Rising sets the stage for an epic good time. When the poles shift and Antarctica becomes a lush paradise, the world's remnants race to claim it as their own. It is not vacant, however...I really like this book, but back when I first read it, not quite as much. It felt unfinished in many ways. It was a complete story ripe with action and mayhem and dinosaurs and gigantic foes- more than a match for humanity's dwindling attempt at staking a claim in the new Antarktos.
But too vague, it just didn't seem like the whole story.
Apparently, Jeremy Robinson thought so as well. He expanded, and finished the story in Antarktos Rising, with the series/story, "The Last Hunter". It comes in novellas and a very fancy Collected Edition, which has artwork and a short story and an interview.
The Last Hunter is the epitome of epic to me. I recommend reading Antarktos Rising after book 2: Pursuit- it fits right in, but reading it before The Last Hunter works, too. But Antarktos Rising is the core of it all and you won't go wrong with it by itself. Even though I wasn't as happy with it then as I am since the Last Hunter came out, I still would have given it 4.5. It's damn good on it's own. Because of The Last Hunter, it gets a 5. Antarktos Rising eBook Jeremy Robinson Reviews
I began with Book 1 of Last Hunter series and made it through Book 3 when I began having problems loading the rest of the series on my . While tech services was working on my problem, I started reading Antarktos Rising on my computer through my account. Great book - like the rest of the series. The only problem I have is that it's listed as a prequel, only it really parallels Books 3 & 4 and makes for a somewhat "spoiler alert". The Last Hunter series follows a time pattern from Sol's perspective from birth to his return to Antarctica, to his first crush with Mirabelle, and to the final battle with the Nephilim but Antarktos rising centers on Mirabelle as a twenty/thirty something widowed adult who finds herself the center of a global catastrophe. If I had read Antarktos Rising first - it would have spoiled what came in Books 3, 4 & 5 of The Last Hunter series. If I would have read it last, it would have been just a side look at a story line that I know the ending on already. By accident, reading it after Book 3 and before Book 4, it was a little better fit - still not perfect though, which is why I give it 4 stars.
Crustal displacement leads to chaos and discovery . . . Antarctica melts down to a tropical island, is exposed and ripe to be explored by our main character and his estranged daughter whom both experienced tragedy years ago on the continent. Other countries send in "the troops" as the race begins to see what has been hidden below the ice for hundreds, thousands of years.
"ANTARKTOS RISING" had me in its claws from the very start! An adventure not for the faint-hearted and one to re-read, since we all know you catch more the second time around ) Human and not so human enemies, heart flopping action scenes, characters with soul, are at the tip of what I enjoyed so much about this intense read ! ! !
I adore how Robinson bases most, if not all, his writing on science, mythology, history . . . embellishing his books/novellas with creatures, action, thrills, horrors, etc . . . of all types.
Excited to get my hands on "The Last Hunter" series . . . soon. )
Five stars for Robinson and such a mind-bending read ! ! !
Mr Robinson advised reading this book along with "The Last Hunter-Ascent" before going on to "The Last Hunter-Lament" and I'm glad I did. It rolled in part of the story that would have been missing if I had skipped it. This book ratcheted the action up even more that "Ascent"'. By the time I finished it I was almost hyperventilating I was so engrossed in the outcome. I certainly hope we see more of Mirabelle, Dr Merrill and Aimee and the rest of the team in future books in The Last Hunter series. I grew very fond of all the characters in this entire series and I believe it will take all of them in the end to defeat the Nephilim. After all a race of half demon-half human giants straight out of the Bible will take some very special people to defeat them. These are those people. Highly, highly recommended for all.
